The SOTA Program at NKU is so incredible in the way that it intertwines all arts into one. I am earning my degree through SOTA, my major being Studio Arts. I've always been an artist and I love art, I enjoy going to museums and noting techniques that I could replicate in my own works. I have expereince selling my art, and it's a great community to get into. I'm also quite the history buff, so my Art History class is very exciting and I love the subject matter. ALthough I appear to be alone in that sentiment, as asking anyone else in my Art History class will get a very different answer. My favorite art period is the Renaissance for it's love for antiquity and attention to detail. My favorite painting is Botticelli's Primavera, which is located at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy.
Despite my major and my talents and knowledge in the visual arts, my career choice is actually to be an actor, as the image on the right would suggest. I have experince in this world as well, and that sparked my interest. Madeline, why don't you major in theatre? Great question, hypothetical person! I want to be a screen and voice actor, not be in theater productions. I have been in stage productions, and they were fun, but I have such a love for cinematography and the art of screen and film imagery that I'd much prefer to be invested in that. For example, the picture below showcases the cinematography of NBC's Hannibal. (I chose a normal, gore and spoiler-free image, you're welcome.) The contrast of the light buildings in the background with the angled camera up at the dark purple clothes of Bedelia Du Maurier is gorgeous, and I'd love to be a part of this sort of thing. It's a beautiful overlap of visual arts and acting that SOTA at NKU can provide.
